Attracting investments into Central Asia - Conference sponsored by Ansher

A business seminar on "Attracting foreign investments into Uzbek market and the role of portfolio investors" was organized by the National Association of Investment Institutions (NAII) jointly with Ansher Capital and Ansher Fund Management on July 10 at Dedeman Silk Road Hotel Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

The business seminar aimed to inform the business community about the recent development trends and methods of attracting international institutional investors into the Uzbek market. This is the third business seminar organized by NAII with participation of foreign investors.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Anvar Rasulev, Chairman of the Board of Directors of NAII, noted the increasing trend of foreign investments into the Central Asia region, a region that is becoming of a greater growing importance for international community.

Mr. James Morton, managing partner of CIM Investments shared his experience of investing in Central Asian countries and particularly in Uzbekistan. He highlighted the promising investment potential of this region. He especially showed high optimism in regard with integrating Central Asian martkets with world capital markets. “Joining global custody network would be a key starting point”, - he proposed.

During his speech, Mr. Ravshan Yunusov, the representative of Ansher Fund Management spoke about the methods of attracting foreign investments into the region. He noted Central Asian region’s fast growth as a significant factor for investment attractiveness. “International investors and investment funds are ready to invest actively in Uzbekistan and Central Asia”, - he said. Thus, Ansher Regional Equity Fund (AREF), which specializes in investments into equities and Ansher Regional Property Fund (ARPF), which specializes in investments into real estate were launched recently.

Mr. Khurshid Kholov – another representative of Ansher Fund Management continued the topic of Central Asian region’s attractiveness and stressed on banking, insurance, leasing sectors as attractive sectors for foreign investors today.

Djahangir Mamadjanov, a representative of Ansher Fund Management, gave a detailed overview about the investment potential in real estate market. Accordingly, strategic investors have opportunities to invest in the real estate projects in Uzbekistan and Central Asia through the family of Ansher international funds that possess infrastructure and tools meeting the requirements of transparency.
